Punjab Kings, after a memorable IPL season in 2025, retained as many as 21 players from their squad. And in the IPL 2026 auction held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday (December 16), PBKS signed four more players to
further strengthen their squad. But there are not many chances of any of the new signings starting for them in the XI.
In IPL 2025, Delhi-based Priyansh Arya and Punjab-based wicketkeeper Prabhsimran Singh formed a solid opening pair for PBKS, and they will continue to play as openers in IPL 2026 as well.

In his maiden IPL season with Punjab Kings, Shreyas Iyer scored more than 600 runs and also led them to the IPL final for the first time since the 2014 edition. The Mumbai-based batter, who is the only captain to reach the IPL final with three different teams, would like to complete the unfinished business in 2026.
Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis, Shashank Singh and Azmatullah Omarzai will be the key batters for PBKS in IPL 2026.
If PBKS management decide to include a spin-bowling all-rounder in the playing XI, then young Cooper Connolly, who joined PBKS for Rs 3 crore in the IPL 2026 auction, could come in for Stoinis or Omarzai.
Arshdeep Singh is India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is, and the left-arm pacer will lead PBKS’ pace bowling attack along with South Africa’s fast bowling all-rounder Marco Jansen and New Zealand speedster Lockie Ferguson.
Yuzvendra Chahal is the most successful bowler in IPL history, and he will lead the spin attack for the Preity Zinta-owned side, which is coached by Ricky Ponting.
As backup, PBKS have Harpreet Brar, Mitch Owen, Ben Dwarshuis, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Yash Thakur and Xavier Bartlett, among others, in their ranks.
