New Delhi, Jun 1 (PTI) The Delhi Master Plan 2041 and the NCR Regional Plan will soon be notified as all formalities are in the final stages, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal said on Monday.
Talking to reporters, the minister said the draft Master Plan for Delhi 2041 (MPD) has a multi-level approval process involving the municipality, the Delhi government, the Delhi Development Authority, and the Land and Development Office, which finally goes to the Union Home Ministry.
“After completing all the processes, just one last meeting is due, which is now to be held at the Home Minister’s level. We have completed everything; one final meeting also has to be held,” he said.
In 2023, the then Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena approved
the draft master plan, the thrust of which is stated to be on inclusive development, sustainability and innovative interventions such as transit-oriented development hubs, land pooling, heritage and Yamuna rejuvenation, and regeneration of the city.
The ministry concerned — Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry — will give its final approval to the MPD 2041 after the meeting at the Union Home Ministry level.
The MPD, prepared by the Delhi Development Authority, is a statutory document that facilitates the city’s development by assessing the present condition and guiding how to achieve the desired development.
Asked about the NCR Regional Plan, Manohar Lal said the National Capital Region Planning Board has called a meeting on June 16, where the plan will be discussed.
The Union minister said four states — Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh — are involved in the NCR Regional Plan, and everyone’s consent is necessary.
He added that the states have raised some objections.
“There are many directions from the court. We do not want any of the directions to be violated. Many new suggestions have come in,” he said. PTI BUN RUK RUK
