It was in 2022 when David Dhawan was hospitalised following a major health scare. Due to diabetes, he had to be admitted to the hospital. Now, years later, as the director is back with yet another film with his son Varun Dhawan, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, the director got emotional at the trailer launch event of the film.
David Dhawan broke down in tears at the trailer launch event as he spoke about how Varun is a hands-on son. Interacting with the media, David shared, “In the hospital, he used to sleep with me when I was there, what more do you want yaar? As an actor, he is improving, whenever you want he can deliver, but as a father, if I tell you, everybody should have a son like Varun.” As David broke down crying, Varun too was seen getting
emotional as he tried to console his father.

About David and Varun’s upcoming film
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai was initially scheduled to release in theatres on June 5, but its release date went through several changes. The film was first pushed to June 12 after Yash announced Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups for a June 4 release, in order to avoid a clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2. Later, the makers surprised fans by preponing the release to May 22, weeks ahead of its original date.
However, on April 29, Varun Dhawan shared a new poster confirming that Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai would release on June 5 after all. The change came after Yash posted a detailed note on social media announcing that Toxic would no longer arrive on June 4. Following that development, the team behind the Varun Dhawan starrer returned to its original release plan.
The film brings together Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde in lead roles, supported by a packed ensemble cast including Rakesh Bedi, Chunky Panday, Jimmy Shergill, Mouni Roy, Rajesh Kumar, and Ali Asgar, all of whom appear to add to the film’s chaotic humour and layered storytelling.
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai trailer
The newly released trailer has already set the tone for what looks like a loud, lively, and very familiar cinematic ride. It marks another collaboration between director David Dhawan and Varun Dhawan, their fourth project together, continuing a partnership known for high-energy comedy films designed for mass audiences.
