Star New Zealand pacer Matt Henry on Sunday, June 21, broke former all-rounder Dion Nash’s record to register the best Test figures by a Kiwi bowler in England, after he finished with match figures of 11/109 against a Joe Root-led side, in the second of the three-match Test series at the Oval.
Henry picked five wickets in England’s first innings, dismissing a well-set Root, Harry Brook, Jordan Cox, Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue, to restrict the hosts to 291 in response to New Zealand’s first innings score of 391.
England were set a target of a whopping 463 runs to win the Test and the series, but they folded for 209, with Henry dismissing Root, Brook, Cox, Archer and Tongue for the second time, besides Matthew Fisher.

New Zealand wrapped up a dominant victory over England in just 48 minutes on Day 5, bowling the hosts out for 209 while chasing 463, as Henry’s six-for sealed brilliant match figures of 11/109.
The crushing victory over England followed the hosts’ own big victory over New Zealand at Lord’s and sends the series to a decider in Nottingham beginning on Thursday.
England resumed on 182/5 with an improbable target of 463 and Henry took the last five wickets.
The metronomic Henry gave a masterclass with a spell of 5/3 in less than six overs.
They earned him figures of 6/29 in the second innings and combined with his 5/80 in the first innings, Henry finished with outstanding match returns of 11/109, the best-ever figures by a New Zealand bowler against England.
