Actor Kartik Aaryan, who recently won a National Award for his performance in Kabir Khan’s Chandu Champion, is all set to start shooting for his next film. Titled Captain India, the film will be helmed by Shimit Amin, known for Shah Rukh Khan’s Chak De India. The highly awaited film will go on floors on 1st September 2026 in London, with the shoot expected to conclude by the end of October.
Captain India is backed by T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar and Baweja Studios, in association with Dopamine Studios, with S.B. Films overseeing production. The action drama draws inspiration from the true events surrounding India’s daring evacuation mission from a war-torn country, promising an ambitious story packed with emotion and high-stakes action. Alongside
Kartik Aaryan, Captain India is expected to feature an ensemble cast, adding to the anticipation surrounding the project. The film has been penned by Nash Vazifdar, Sanchit Gupta and Priyadarshee Shrivastava.
A project titled Captain India was originally announced in 2021, with Hansal Mehta on board as director and Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP and Harman Baweja’s Baweja Studios backing the film. Harman Baweja was also credited as the writer of that version, while Kartik was set to play a pilot involved in the rescue mission. At the time, principal photography was expected to commence in early 2022.
The film is set to release on 13th August 2027, Independence Day weekend.
Meanwhile, Kartik, who recently suffered a severe knee injury while shooting an intense action sequence for Kabir Khan’s upcoming sports drama, was most recently seen in Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri alongside Ananya Panday, following his appearance in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The actor has several projects lined up, including Naagzilla, which is now scheduled to release in February 2027, as well as upcoming collaborations with filmmakers Anurag Basu and Kabir Khan.
