Vashu Bhagnani has denied claims that the legal dispute surrounding songs used in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has been resolved. The producer said no one from the film’s team has contacted him despite public statements suggesting the matter had been “sorted”. The controversy sparked after producer Ramesh Taurani claimed at the film’s trailer launch that there was “no problem” and the issue had already been handled. Vashu Bhagnani Rejects Settlement Claims A day after the trailer launch of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Vashu Bhagnani released a self-recorded video reacting directly to the statements made by the film’s producers. The producer made it clear that he had not been approached regarding any settlement in the ongoing dispute over recreated
songs allegedly linked to his 1999 film Biwi No. 1. Vashu Bhagnani said, “There was a very big movie of mine, Biwi No. 1, whose songs were stolen. So yesterday we held its press conference and I was very clear that I have given no right to its visual to anyone stated that no one should use it. The matter is in the court and it’s contempt of court if anyone uses it or runs it.” He also accused the makers of making misleading public statements while the case remains in court. “This morning I saw its theatrical trailer launch. The common press, public, everyone is sitting and they are saying that we have settled, we have talked, we have everything. Who did you talk to? I am the owner, no one has called me yet. No whatsapp, no one. Emotionally, legally, no one has called me. I don’t understand what has happened in the country. The matter is going on in the court, even after that they are lying openly, releasing openly,” he further said. What Ramesh Taurani Said At Trailer Launch The latest response comes shortly afterRamesh Taurani addressed the controversy during the trailer launch event of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which stars Varun Dhawan. When asked about the legal notice and dispute, Taurani insisted there was no issue affecting the film. “There is no problem in this. Whatever we had, has been sorted,” Taurani said. He added, “And whatever comes next will also be sorted. So, there is no problem. And it’s a sub judice matter. So, we are handling it.” The makers also maintained that the film’s promotions and release plans would continue despite the controversy. Why The Dispute Started The legal and public disagreement centres around allegations made by Vashu Bhagnani regarding the recreation and reuse of songs associated with one of his films without permission. Vashu Bhagnani has repeatedly said that the issue is not only financial but also emotional and ethical for him. During a press conference held earlier, he also expressed disappointment with filmmaker David Dhawan, who has had a long association with him in Bollywood. “At least mere paas aate aur kehte Vashu mai yeh gaana karna hai mera beta hai.. (He shouldn’t have taken these songs. (At least he should have come to me and told me what to do, my son is there)….How can you shoot the same songs for another producer? There has to be ethics in the industry…,” Bhagnani said. The producer also became emotional while speaking about his personal bond with David Dhawan. “David is my brother. I have had lunch and dinner with him. I gave my life for him. Financially, it is fine, but emotionally, the whole family is broken.”
As of now, the matter remains in court, while both sides continue making public statements about the ongoing dispute.
