Kabir Khan, who shot his film New York in New York, considers the city a crucial part of his film journey. On the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in NYC, he shared a post recalling that he was in the city during 9/11 and how the tragedy shook the city.
Kabir recalled the US attacks and, while sharing a series of photographs that he clicked around the city, he wrote, “New York has been a part of my film journey for a long time. I was in the US when 9/11 happened and witnessed a city shaken by the unimaginable tragedy.”
The ace filmmaker further continued, “Seven years later, I returned to shoot my second film New York, a film shaped by the aftermath of that day, and saw the city reclaim its spirit.
“This time, I walked those streets again with just my new Leica SL3P, revisiting corners where I had once shot scenes. The city remains restless, resilient and gloriously alive. @leica.store.india #leicasl3p”
About 9/11 Attacks
On September 11, 2001, 19 al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes. Two were flown into the World Trade Center towers in New York, a third struck the Pentagon, and passengers and crew members aboard the fourth fought back before the plane crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. A total of 2,977 people were killed.

Kabir Khan’s New York (2009)
The film follows three friends, Sam (John Abraham), Maya (Katrina Kaif) and Omar (Neil Nitin Mukesh),whose lives change dramatically after the 9/11 attacks. Omar later finds himself detained by the FBI and is pressured by Agent Roshan (Irrfan Khan) to spy on his old friend Sam, who is suspected of terrorism.
The film was directed by Kabir Khan, produced by Aditya Chopra, and released on June 26, 2009, under Yash Raj Films.
