A video of an elderly woman claiming she is late Indian cricketer Salim Durani’s wife has been circulating on social media. The woman, who was found at the Belapur Metro station in a frail situation, has garnered
a lot of attention for her statements regarding Durani.
As per a Free Press Journal report, the woman has been identified as Rekha Srivastava. In the video, she said that she used to live a luxurious life in Dubai and ran an airline company. The woman alleged in the video that her life took a tragic turn, leading to financial ruin.

Rekha also recalled that Salim Durani, who died in 2023, used to play cricket all over the country. She mentioned meeting prominent personalities while he used to play. As of now, no official statement has been issued by Salim Durani’s family.
According to the Free Press Journal, biographies of Durani do not mention his marriage to Srivastava or any business in Dubai.
According to a Lokmat Times report, some social media posts allege that the woman has been spotted in Vrindavan, Varanasi or other religious cities in northern India.
Who Was Salim Durani?
Salim Durani was born on December 11, 1934, in Kabul, Afghanistan. He later shifted to Jamnagar. One of India’s finest all-rounders, he could turn the fate of a game in a few overs. Durani led India to victory against England in 1961-62, picking up eight and later ten wickets in the games in Kolkata and Chennai. As per Cricinfo, the all-rounder played a key role in a win over West Indies at Port of Spain.
Durani scalped the wickets of Clive Lloyd and Gary Sobers, dismissing the latter for a duck. Durani’s only Test century was also against the West Indies.
Salim Durani Received Arjuna Award
Durani was the first Indian cricketer to receive the Arjuna Award. He scored 1,202 runs and took 75 wickets in 29 Tests. He passed away in Jamnagar at the age of 88.
While the woman’s video has created a lot of discussion around Salim Durani’s personal life, there has been no clarification from his family. As of now, the woman’s claims remain shrouded in mystery.
