Jaya Bachchan recently attended a panel discussion at an event, where she spoke about the qualities she admires in Amitabh Bachchan. She also explained that Big B has a different personality than her,
and that is the reason why she got married to him. Jaya Bachchan said that, unlike her, Amitabh Bachchan is not free with his opinion, and prefers keeping it to himself. Instead, he chooses to convey what he wants to in the right way, and she jokingly added that this is something she doesn’t do.
Jaya Bachchan Opens Up About Amitabh Bachchan’s Contrasting Personality
Speaking with Barkha Dutt at We The Women event, Jaya Bachchan spoke about Amitabh Bachchan, and said, “The best thing I like about him is his discipline. I am a big one for discipline. I am a very strict mother.” She further added, “He does not speak. He is not free with his opinion like I am. He keeps it to himself, but he knows how to convey what he wants to, at the right time, in the right way… which I don’t! That’s the difference. He is a different personality, maybe that’s why I married him!”
Jaya Bachchan further jokingly added, “Can you imagine if I had married somebody like me? He would be in Vrindavan and I would be somewhere else!”
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan tied the knot on June 3, 1973. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in June this year. Over the years, the couple has appeared together on-screen and given audiences iconic hits like Silsila, Zanjeer, Abhimaan, Sholay, among others.
Jaya Bachchan Rips Into The Paparazzi
Meanwhile, at the same event, Jaya Bachchan also spoke about her strange relationship with the paparazzi. “My relationship with media is fantastic. I am the product of media. But my relationship with paparazzi is zero. Who are these people? Are they trained to be representing the people of this country? You call them media? I come from media. My father was a journalist. I have tremendous respect for such people,” she said.
“But yeh jo bahar gande, tight pant pehnke, hath mein mobile leke (they wear cheap, tight pants and have a mobile in their hand), they think just because they have a mobile, they can take your picture and say what they want. And, the kind of comments they pass! What kind of people are these people? Kahan se aate hain, kis tarah ka education hai? Kya background hai? They will represent us? Just because they can get through to YouTube or whatever social platform?” questioned Jaya Bachchan.
