Garhwa (Jharkhand), Sep 6 (PTI) An elderly man was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district on Sunday, police said.
The incident occurred in the Kusumdamar forest under the Chiniya Police Station limits when Annati Yadav (65) went there to graze buffaloes and was attacked by the elephant, a senior officer said.
“When the buffaloes returned home but Annati Yadav did not, his family members began searching for him. During the search, his body was found in the Kusumdamar forest,” Chiniya Police Station officer-in-charge Bikku Kumar Rajak told PTI.
Raged by the incident, villagers took the body to a place near the police station and blocked a road for nearly three hours.
The police managed to persuade the villagers to lift
the blockade and sent the body for post-mortem examination to the Garhwa Sadar Hospital, the officer said. PTI CORR ANB BDC
