Deepinder Goyal’s ₹85,000 Temple wearable has run into a rather unexpected problem and it has nothing to do with brain health. Minutes after pre-orders opened in India, the device’s website reportedly crashed as prospective buyers rushed to check out the latest offering from the Zomato founder.
The pre-order window opened for Indian consumers on November 1 at 9:30 pm. However, the sudden rush of visitors appeared to overwhelm the website, prompting Goyal to acknowledge the issue on X (formerly Twitter).
Addressing the technical difficulties, the Zomato founder wrote, “Too much traffic on temple.com – we are trying to get on top of it. Orders are working on the app though.”
His update soon attracted attention, with an X user pointing out that directing
customers to the app would not entirely resolve the problem if the website remained inaccessible. Responding to the concern, Goyal admitted that the team had failed to anticipate the volume of traffic the launch would generate.
“Let’s see. We under-estimated the traffic, and we don’t have auto scale. Rookie mistake,” he wrote.
The admission quickly became a talking point on the platform, with several users drawing comparisons between the infrastructure behind Temple and the massive traffic volumes handled by Zomato.
One user took a humorous dig at the situation, writing, “Deepinder bro , ₹85,000 ka device dimaag ka blood flow measure karega, par website traffic nahi sambhal paa rahi? Pehle server ka BP check karwa lo.”
Another user questioned how the new platform was struggling with traffic despite Goyal’s experience with Zomato, saying, “Sorry, Deepinder but it cannot compete with the traffic Zomato handles and you shouldn’t be crying about this here (appreciating zomato’s infra)”
A third user suggested that most visitors might simply be checking the device’s price rather than attempting to place orders. “95% of the traffic is just people checking price. just mention it in your original tweet and you won’t need auto scaling to bring back the site,” the user commented.
Meanwhile, another person raised questions about the technical preparation ahead of the launch, writing, “It appears that comprehensive scalability, performance, and load testing have not been conducted on your pre-order website and its underlying infrastructure. This may explain the lack of confidence in the platform’s ability to handle high traffic volumes during critical releases.”
What Is Deepinder Goyal’s Temple Wearable?
Temple is a head-worn wellness wearable developed under a private health-tech initiative backed by Goyal. Unlike conventional fitness trackers and smartwatches that are worn on the wrist, the device is attached to the side of the head, near the temple, using a medical-grade adhesive grip.
The wearable is designed to monitor changes associated with blood flow in the brain. It uses a system called BrainFlow, which is intended to collect signals from tissues and blood vessels around the temple.
Another feature of the device is a metric called Entropy, which Goyal describes as a real-time measure of the body’s “cost of being alive”. The score is updated every second and is designed to reflect changes in the body’s state based on factors such as sleep, stress, exercise, caffeine consumption and meditation.

The Entropy score ranges from 1 to 250. Lower scores indicate a state of rest, while higher readings reflect increased physical activity.
Temple has also attracted attention because of the prominent personalities spotted wearing it. Indian badminton star PV Sindhu and cricketer Shubman Gill are among those who have been seen sporting the device.
Temple Price, Colours And Delivery Details
Temple is priced at ₹85,000 in India, making it a premium offering in the wearable technology segment. According to Goyal, every device will be handmade once an order is placed, with deliveries expected within three months of purchase.
Customers can choose from six colour options: True Gold, Rose Gold, Black Mirror, Real Jade, Deep Blue and Purple Funk.
Those interested in purchasing the wearable can download the Temple application through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and complete the initial setup before proceeding with their orders.
