Suniel Shetty is going through an emotional and proud phase as his son Ahaan Shetty steps into a song that is deeply connected to his own cinematic journey. The makers of Border 2 recently unveiled the film’s third song, Jaate Hue Lamhon, which revives one of the most iconic emotional tracks from the 1997 war classic Border, now recreated for a new generation of audiences.
The song traces its origins to Border, where the original track Ae Jaate Hue Lamhon played during a poignant farewell sequence. In the film, Suniel Shetty essayed the role of soldier Bhairav Singh, who sings the song as he bids goodbye to his newly married wife before leaving for military duty. The scene went on to become one of the most memorable moments of the film, capturing
the pain of separation, the strength of love and the silent sacrifices made by soldiers and their families.
Nearly three decades later, the song returns in Border 2, this time carrying added emotional weight as Ahaan Shetty becomes a part of it.
‘I Truly Feel Blessed,’ Says Suniel Shetty
Sharing his happiness, Suniel Shetty reflected on the full-circle moment and said, “Roop ji had sung this song for me, and it became an iconic song in the film. Today, my son is a part of this very song, and in the second film, he also gets the opportunity to play a naval officer. Probably one of the first naval officers shown in Indian cinema on screen. I truly feel blessed.”
For Border 2, the makers have retained the original lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar, ensuring that the emotional essence of the song remains intact. At the same time, the recreated version has been given a contemporary sound to connect with today’s audience.
The new rendition of Jaate Hue Lamhon is sung by Vishal Mishra, with music composed by Mithoon. The original version was composed by Anu Malik and voiced by Roop Kumar Rathod, whose soulful singing played a key role in making the song timeless.
A Tribute Rooted in Respect and Emotion
Adding to the sentiment, Vishal Mishra recently shared a video in which Roop Kumar Rathod is seen guiding him through the song. Alongside the clip, the singer wrote that performing the track in front of its original voice and receiving his blessings was a moment he would always cherish.
The makers of Border 2 are also planning a special and meaningful launch for the song in Khasa, Amritsar. The event, scheduled around Lohri, will take place in the presence of Indian soldiers and their families and is expected to host thousands of army personnel. The launch aims to honour the spirit of service, sacrifice and patriotism that the Border franchise has long stood for.
