Jason Sudeikis’ long-awaited return to AFC Richmond finally has a kickoff date. Apple TV+ has confirmed that “Ted Lasso” Season 4 will debut globally this summer, alongside the release of brand-new first-look photos and fresh details about what lies ahead for the beloved series.
Currently in production, the fourth season reunites Sudeikis in his Emmy-winning role as Ted Lasso. The actor also continues to executive produce the show. Returning alongside him are fan-favourite cast members Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift, bringing back the core ensemble that helped turn the series into a cultural phenomenon.
Joining the cast this season are several new additions, including Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye
Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely, hinting at an expanded world and fresh storylines for Richmond.
Ted Lasso Takes On His Biggest Challenge Yet
Season four finds Ted back in Richmond — but this time, he’s stepping into uncharted territory. According to the official synopsis, Ted will be coaching a second division women’s football team, marking a major shift for the character and the series.
As per the synopsis: “Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”
The new storyline signals a bold evolution for the show, expanding its emotional and sporting landscape while retaining the optimism and heart that defined its earlier seasons.
Season four also welcomes Emmy winner Jack Burditt (“Nobody Wants This,” “Modern Family,” “30 Rock”) as an executive producer under a new overall deal with Apple TV+. Sudeikis executive produces alongside Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee and Bill Wrubel.
Brett Goldstein returns as both writer and executive producer, joined by Leanne Bowen. Sarah Walker and Phoebe Walsh serve as writers and producers, while Sasha Garron co-produces. Julia Lindon will write for the season, with Dylan Marron onboard as story editor.
Bill Lawrence continues to executive produce via Doozer Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television. The series, developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly and Hunt, is based on the original NBC Sports format.
Following its debut, “Ted Lasso” shattered records, with its first season becoming the most Emmy-nominated comedy series at the time and winning Outstanding Comedy Series for its first two seasons.
