A Gurgaon employee has sparked a massive online discussion after sharing how much his company allegedly spends on him every month beyond his salary package.
From expensive daily cab rides and unlimited coffee to gym memberships, snacks and office games, the employee’s detailed breakdown left social media users stunned at the hidden cost of corporate perks.
The viral clip was shared by Instagram user Gaurav Dhama, who works in Gurgaon. Instead of discussing appraisals, bonuses or salary hikes, Dhama highlighted something many corporate employees rarely think about, the hidden cost of workplace perks and conveniences provided by companies.
In the now-viral video, Dhama walked viewers through a typical workday and estimated how much his employer spends
on facilities provided to him outside his salary package.
According to the calculations shown in the clip, the expenses begin with a morning cab ride from Delhi to Gurgaon costing nearly Rs 950. He further added Rs 150 for breakfast, Rs 150 for a gym session and Rs 200 for four mocha frappes consumed during the day.
The breakdown did not stop there. Dhama also included indoor recreational activities such as table tennis and pool, which he estimated cost around Rs 150 daily. Lunch, snacks, dry fruits, fruits, stationery, evening refreshments and an evening cab ride during peak traffic hours were also part of the calculation.
Based on these estimates, Dhama claimed that the company spends approximately Rs 3,700 on him every day. When calculated monthly, the amount reportedly reaches nearly Rs 81,400 over and above his cost-to-company (CTC).
As reported by HT.com, Dhama works at ZS Associates as a Decision Analyst Associate, commonly referred to as DAA.
The video quickly gained traction online, with many office-goers saying they had never considered how much companies spend on employee comfort and workplace experiences beyond salaries.
Social media users flooded the comments section with humorous and relatable reactions.
“Fresh air and water 😭” said one user.
“Aur gifts? women’s day wali bottle? jbl mini speakers?” commented another.
“The company spends this much apart from the CTC too, never thought about it this way,” a third user wrote.
Others used the opportunity to reignite the work-from-home debate.
“Now ask them to allow WFH and pay all this in cash,” one user joked.
“Ab unhe bolo WFH lagake yeh sab cash mein dedein,” another commented.
