In the now-viral post, the employee described how their first long-term work-from-home experience over the past four months has started affecting both productivity and overall well-being. The user explained that despite sleeping for eight to nine hours daily, they continue to wake up feeling exhausted, dizzy, and mentally drained.
The Redditor revealed that one of the biggest concerns could be their workspace itself, a room with no windows and almost no exposure to natural sunlight due to a shared wall with a neighbouring building.
According to
the post, the employee’s daily routine begins around 9:30 AM, followed almost immediately by work stand-up meetings between 10:15 and 10:30 AM.
The user also reflected on how the nature of work has changed with increased dependence on AI tools such as Claude and Cursor. They mentioned missing the intensity and engagement of traditional development work, adding that even attempts at upskilling and watching lectures now feel monotonous and difficult to sustain.
Seeking advice from fellow users, the employee questioned whether the symptoms could be linked to Vitamin D or iron deficiency caused by the lack of sunlight exposure. The user also asked whether consulting a doctor would be the right next step and requested suggestions on managing a workspace with no natural light.
The post quickly drew widespread attention online, with several users offering practical recommendations and medical advice.
“WFH is actually an energy saver bro. No commute is such a plus point. Join a gym if u can and keep a check on your diet and vitamin level. It will be good. See if u can change your room to something with window and sunlight,” wrote one user.
Another commented, “I really want WFH, I really want to move to my hometown.”
One Redditor suggested lifestyle adjustments and said, “Wake up early and walk in the sun for at least 15 minutes everyday before hitting the gym. Eat normally and try to take breaks after every 30 minutes and go for a walk in your house for 5 minutes. Try to sleep for at least 7 hours.”
A fourth user pointed directly at the workspace issue and wrote, “The windowless room is doing more damage than your routine and the dizziness with fatigue after 8 hours of sleep is a real symptom worth taking seriously not just a productivity problem. Get a Vitamin D and iron panel done this week because deficiency at that level causes exactly what you are describing and is an easy fix once diagnosed. A 10000 lux daylight lamp on your desk for the first hour of work makes a genuine difference when sunlight is not an option.”
