Almost a month after its release, Hanuman Ansh has become a talk of the town. The film has earned over Rs 50 crore in India and has been getting an overwhelming response from the audience. While it stars actor Shobhinav Satyaa as Neem Karoli Baba, it is directed by Vishal Chaturvedi. Who Is Vishal Chaturvedi?
Vishal Chaturvedi is a doctor-turned-filmmaker, writer and producer. He is credited as the writer and director of Hanuman Ansh and is also among its producers. His professional journey, however, did not begin in cinema.
According to his profile on BookMyShow, Chaturvedi left medicine and later
gave up music to pursue filmmaking full-time. His journey towards making Hanuman Ansh reportedly spanned nearly 14 years, while the idea of making a film around Neem Karoli Baba had stayed with him for almost two decades.
Reportedly, Chaturvedi is also associated with Swambhu Media Network, the production banner behind Hanuman Ansh. His professional profile on LinkedIn describes him as the founder of the organisation and identifies him as a filmmaker and writer.
Hanuman Ansh Rules Headlines, Box Office
Hanuman Ansh initially released in around 250 theatres, but its show count reportedly dropped to just 25 within a week. However, almost 25 days after its release, the situation dramatically. By its fourth week, Hanuman Ansh was reportedly playing across around 1,200 screens. The film’s reported Rs 1.7 crore budget versus its Rs 45 crore India earnings in 25 days also highlighted the extraordinary scale of its turnaround.
As of Friday, September 4, Hanuman Ansh has earned close to Rs 60 crore. The film has also been released outside India now.
Recently, Vishal also reacted to the film’s success while speaking to The Raunac Podcast and said, “After the film started to do well, several people called me to congratulate me. I don’t want to name them. One of those who congratulated me was Madhur Bhandarkar, whom I had not asked for any support. However, I am not mentioning the others because I had sought help from those people and they didn’t help me. Hence, I don’t want to name them for now just because they are congratulating me.”
