Exit Poll Results 2026: The 2026 Assembly elections are set to end on Wednesday evening and the attention is now on exit polls – the first indicators of how the electorate may have voted.

With just 30 elected seats, the Union Territory often punches above its weight in terms of drama, shifting loyalties, coalition arithmetic and personality-driven contests.

The direct fight is between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the All India NR Congress (AINRC) and BJP and the opposition bloc led by the Congress along with regional partners. The race also carries an added twist as it marks the electoral debut of actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which has entered the fray hoping to shake up established equations.

Exit Polls refers to a survey conducted among voters once they exit a polling booth after casting their vote. The willing participants are asked who they just voted for. It is aimed to predict the outcome of an election before the results are officially announced.

In India, exit polls are regulated by the Election Commission (ECI), which bans their publication until the final phase of voting is over. Media outlets and think-tanks can conduct them, but cannot publish the results until the final phase of polling is over. In this case, that’s today, April 29 after 6pm.

The official counting of votes and the formal declaration of the winner will be done on May 4.
