Ballia (UP), Sep 6 (PTI) Two teenagers drowned while bathing in the floodwaters of the Ganga river in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district on Sunday, police said.
According to the police, five friends from Raghunathpur village under the Dubhar police station went to a spot near Tekar culvert (near Maa Kali temple). Four of the friends began bathing, while the fifth remained on the bank. While bathing, all four friends began to drown. The friend standing at the bank raised an alarm, prompting locals to rush to the scene.
Two of them were rescued, but the other two drowned, the police said.
SHO of Dubhar Anupam Jaiswal said that the bodies of the two drowned boys were recovered with the help of the NDRF team. They were identified as Abhishek Gaud (17)
