Traffic congestion on Delhi’s busy Aurobindo Marg has once again become a talking point after a local resident raised concerns over a blocked service road in Padmini Enclave. In a video shared online, the man questioned why a stretch of road was being treated as “private property” and claimed the barricades installed there were worsening daily traffic jams in the area. The clip has now sparked debate online, with many people sharing similar complaints from other parts of the city while others defended the residents.
The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a Delhi resident who alleged that bungalow owners in Padmini Enclave had blocked a service road for their own convenience.
Man Points At Blocked Service Road
In the clip, the man is seen
standing near a signboard that reads “Private Property” and “Private Road” at Padmini Enclave. He records the traffic moving slowly nearby and claims the road closure is creating long traffic jams every day.
He says, “From Padmini Enclave Number 1 to 12, they claim this is “private property”. Fine, the private property itself may indeed belong to their father. However, the road, that road does not belong to anyone’s dad.”
The man further points towards the barricades and grills placed on the road and alleges that residents have blocked access mainly to park their vehicles.
He adds that vehicles coming from Green Park towards Hauz Khas are forced to stay stuck in traffic for long hours because the service lane cannot be fully used anymore.
In the caption of the post, he wrote, “People living in the kothi bungalow in Padmini Enclave on Aurobindo Marg have permanently closed off the service road for parking their vehicles by installing an iron grill, as a result of which every day lakhs of people heading from Green Park towards Hauz Khas have to face hours of traffic jams.”
The man also appealed to the Delhi government, PWD and the Chief Minister to remove the barricades and reopen the road for public use.

Internet Reacts To The Complaint
The video soon triggered mixed reactions online. While many users agreed with the man and said similar problems exist in several colonies across Delhi, others argued that private roads do legally exist.
A user commented, “Same situation is of panchsheel when we move from Hauz khas to Chirag delhi. This is not possible without knowledge pf government.”
Another wrote, “This problem has existed in Delhi for several decades. The court’s directive is that the gate of any colony cannot be kept closed during the daytime.”
Some users, however, disagreed with the man’s claims. “Private Road is there. What kind of thing is this that Private RoaD doesn’t exist. Everyone wants to pick up a mic on their mobile and become a journalist to spread misinformation,” one person commented.
Another user supported the complaint and wrote, “He has made a valid point. Where in the world ppl and MCD use grills to block service roads? Hell, route whatever time you go, one just can’t sail through without getting stuck.”
“The same fan road in Janakpuri has been closed, treating the service road between Uttam Nagar and Mata Chanan Devi Hospital as its own fiefdom. Get the road opened,” another comment read.
A different user wrote, “Dimag se paidal hai kya be.. private property ka meaning nhi pata tujhe ?????”
