An Air India flight operating from Dubai to Delhi was cancelled after developing a technical snag, sources said. The flight, scheduled to depart on the night of February 2, was unable to take off due to the issue.
According to sources, a fault was detected in the aircraft’s radar system, prompting the airline to cancel the flight as a safety precaution. The aircraft involved was a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, operating as flight AI 196.
This comes after Air India, began precautionary inspections of fuel control switches across its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet after a pilot reported a possible defect in one of the switches earlier.
According to sources, inspections of nearly half the fleet have been completed so far, with no issues detected, while checks
on the remaining aircraft are still underway.
The airline has also escalated the matter to Boeing for a priority evaluation, and no adverse findings have been reported during the fleet-wide re-inspection. Earlier, an Air India Boeing 787-8 aircraft had been grounded following the pilot’s report of the suspected fuel control switch defect.
