Shimla, August 10 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi on Monday directed all the deputy commissioners to prepare complete details of fully and partially damaged houses, cowsheds, shops and other properties affected by natural disasters.
Reviewing the progress of special relief packages for 2023, 2024 and 2025 and the status of the post-disaster needs assessment (PDNA) for 2023 at a meeting here, Negi said complaints had been received that certain families did not receive assistance under the special relief packages.
He directed the deputy commissioners to identify all the families which have been left out and ensure that their cases are examined and relief is provided to those eligible at the earliest, an official statement
said.
A meeting of a Cabinet sub-committee was also held on Monday to discuss measures to reduce congestion in Shimla and the major industrial areas such as the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) and district headquarters.
The sub-committee was constituted to examine various measures for decongestion, including the relocation of major markets.
The deputy commissioner of Shimla told the meeting that land parcels have been identified for relocating the grain market, vegetable market, timber market and transport market in Shimla, and a final report on the matter would be submitted at the next meeting.
Another review meeting was held on the proposed development of a new township in the BBN area and the establishment of a satellite town on the lines of Chandigarh.
Officials told the meeting that the revenue department has transferred more than 7,000 bighas of land to the Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) for the proposed development.
The mutation of the land in favour of HIMUDA has also been completed, they said. PTI BPL ARI ARI
