An incident at a McDonald’s outlet in Singapore has caught attention online. A video showed an Indian woman confronting staff for being served a non-vegetarian burger instead of a vegetarian one. The visibly upset woman can be seen standing near the counter, questioning the employees about the mix-up.
“I am from India, how can you?” she says emotionally, to which the employee replies, “I know you are from India.” The woman adds, “Then how can you do this?”. After confronting the staff and explaining her side, she is seen leaving the counter, wiping away tears.
The woman claimed she had ordered a vegetarian burger and was shocked to discover meat inside. According to her, she is a regular McDonald’s customer in India and is used to vegetarian options
being clearly labelled. She also pointed out that the burger box did not mention it was non-vegetarian, which left her confused and upset.

What Happened At The Outlet
The clip, shared on Instagram, shows the woman throwing her burger box on the floor before confronting the staff. The post was captioned, “An Indian tourist threw her burger box on the floor and confronted a McDonald’s staff over not being told that the burger she bought is not vegetarian.”
The video text added, “Indian tourist upset for not being told that the McDonald’s burger she bought is not vegetarian.”
The footage quickly gained attention online, with many commenting on the cultural misunderstanding. Some viewers felt the woman’s reaction was understandable given the differences in food habits between India and other countries.
Others, however, argued that customers should check the menu before ordering abroad, as McDonald’s offerings vary from place to place.
Internet Divided Over Woman’s Reaction
Shared on November 10, the video has crossed over 1,000 views, drawing a mix of sympathy and criticism.
A user wrote, “Only McDonald’s in India serves vegetarian burgers and nuggets.”
Another commented, “She speaks English, so no excuse. What a load of crap.” Some called her “overdramatic,” while others related to her situation.
“I ordered an egg and ham muffin, but they gave me chicken,” one person shared, while another wrote, “Staff are not obligated to check each customer’s dietary preferences.”
Currently, McDonald’s Singapore offers a menu mostly featuring chicken, beef, and fish dishes, with no dedicated vegetarian burger like in India. The food outlet is yet to respond to the incident.
