Jaipur, Jul 29 (PTI) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Rajasthan over the next few days as the southwest monsoon is set to intensify across the state.
The department said rainfall activity will pick up from Wednesday in parts of the Kota, Bharatpur, Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur and Bikaner divisions due to the weather system formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coasts of West Bengal and north Odisha.
Some places in the southeastern and eastern parts of the state are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during this period.
According to the IMD, the monsoon will remain active across parts of eastern and western Rajasthan from July 30 to August 2, with moderate
to heavy rainfall expected at most places and isolated locations likely to witness very heavy rainfall.
In western Rajasthan, parts of the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions are also expected to see renewed monsoon activity between July 30 and August 2, with chances of moderate to heavy rainfall at some places.
Meanwhile, rainfall recorded across the state on Wednesday included 53.5 mm in Pratapgarh, 24.7 mm in Jaipur, 18 mm in Dausa, 7 mm in Vanasthali and 3 mm in Karauli. Cloudy skies and light showers were also reported from several other areas. PTI AG NB NB
