Ace India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Virat Kohli is 72 runs away from going past the 400-run mark in IPL 2026, which will be his 11th time to the feat in 19 seasons of the Indian Premier League, as the 37-year-old continues his run-scoring across decades in the cash-rich league.
Kohli has scored 328 runs in seven matches at a stunning average of 54.66. He is the sixth-highest run-scorer in IPL 2026 now and if he manages to score another 72, he might yet again bag the Orange Cap.
Kohli didn’t score 400-plus runs in the first three seasons of the tournament, i.e. from 2008-10. He followed it up with a 557-run season in 2011, when he finished as the second-highest run-scorer.

The closest to Kohli are Shikhar
Dhawan, David Warner and Suresh Raina, who have scored 400-plus runs in nine seasons each.
Meanwhile, under Kohli’s lead, RCB’s batting has been driven by strong top-order performances this season and Devdutt Padikkal’s return to form has added further depth and stability, making the lineup even more formidable.
The middle order, too, has played more defined roles in finishing matches.
But RCB’s threat extends beyond their batting firepower. Their bowlers have shown the ability to control matches in crucial phases, at the death, a quality that could prove decisive against a free-scoring DC lineup.
In their previous outing against the Gujarat Titans, RCB’s bowling unit demonstrated brilliant composure under pressure.
Despite GT being well set for a huge total, Suyash Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood executed their plans to perfection at the death, mixing variations with disciplined lines to curb the scoring and prevent a late surge.
That effort underlined RCB’s growing reputation as a team capable of closing out innings, an area where DC have struggled.
