Joke Or Subtle Hint? Trump Says He's Getting A 'Little Bit Tired' Of Politics As Iran War Escalates

At the Republican midterm convention in Dallas, Texas, US President Donald Trump briefly set politics aside for humour, stating that he was “getting a little bit tired of politics.”

He added that he would deliver a brief speech because he “spoke for two hours last night”. “I don’t feel like going over the same material again…”

“I’m getting a little bit tired of politics now”, he said.

The United States Republican Party and especially, Trump, are hosting a rare convention before

the midterm elections in November.

While such events are traditionally reserved for presidential election years, Trump’s push to stage the costly convention ahead of the November 3 elections reflects both his unconventional campaign approach and the mounting pressure facing the Republican Party at a politically critical moment.

Trump’s comments unfold as he juggles surging global energy prices driven by Iran war with the growing pressure on the country’s military as the crisis escalates.

The war in West Asia began on February 28 when the United States and Israel launched coordinated attacks, targeting multiple sites across Iran and killing the country’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Tehran retaliated by attacking US-linked facilities across the Gulf and subsequently blocking the Strait, a move that saw global energy trade descending into chaos.

‘Don’t Believe In Word Regret’

Trump said Thursday that he has no regrets over the decisions that led to the war with Iran as the conflict entered its seventh month. He stressed that he would take the same course of action, if given another chance.

Speaking to Fox News host Laura Ingraham on “The Ingraham Angle” on Thursday, Trump said he doesn’t believe in the word ‘regret’, Axios reported.

“I don’t believe in the word regret,” Trump said, insisting that he would not change his approach with respect to the Iran conflict.

“You can always question yourself a little bit. And a few people have asked me that. If I had it to do again, I’d do exactly as I did,” he said.
