Delhi Capitals entered the WPL 2027 auction with Rs. 1.1 crore and five slots to fill, aiming to end their run of four consecutive runner-up finishes after releasing Taniya Bhatia, Lizelle Lee, Alana King and Sneh Rana.
They spent Rs. 75 lakh on Kiran Navgire. Despite managing just 16 runs in six matches for UP Warriorz in 2026, the 32-year-old has a career strike rate of 134.67.
DC then signed 15-year-old Karnataka all-rounder Kashvi Kandikuppa for Rs. 10 lakh, making her the youngest player bought in WPL history. Scotland spinner Kirstie Gordon and Delhi all-rounder Nazma Khan were also signed for Rs. 10 lakh each.
With Rs. 5 lakh remaining, DC were among two teams, alongside Royal Challengers Bengaluru, that did not fill all their available
slots.
Delhi Capitals full squad: Jemimah Rodrigues (c), Shafali Verma, Marizanne Kapp, Niki Prasad, Laura Wolvaardt, Chinelle Henry, Sree Charani, Deeya Yadav, Mamatha Madiwala, Nandni Sharma, Lucy Hamilton, Minnu Mani, Annabel Sutherland, Kiran Navgire, Kashvi Kandikuppa, Kirstie Gordon, Nazma Khan
Delhi Capitals likely playing 11
DC’s playing 11 will now take a fresh look. Navgire can replace Lee’s power-hitting as an opener, but she can also bat in the middle order, which allows them to open with Laura Wolvaardt and Shafali Verma and put Jemimah Rodrigues in a more comfortable role at number three.
A lower-order of Chinelle Henry, Marizanne Kapp and Niki Prasad is as enviable as ever, while Annabel Sutherland’s return would be a huge boost to the pace department. Gordon won’t take an overseas spot and will add more left-arm spin to the team, if needed. 15-year-old Kandikuppa could be the alternate right-arm orthodox spin option.
