The national capital and its adjoining areas, including Noida and Gurugram, received moderate to heavy rainfall on Sunday, bringing temperatures down.
The showers provided respite from the prevailing humidity, with Chhatarpur recording the highest rainfall of 49 mm by 2.30 pm, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather office said Gurugram received 35 mm of rain, followed by Mehrauli (18 mm), Greater Noida (17 mm), Najafgarh (8 mm) and Janakpuri (7 mm). Earlier in the day, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 29.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.3 degrees above the seasonal average. Follow for live updates on rain

The IMD has forecast generally cloudy skies with moderate rainfall through the day, while the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 36 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity stood at 77 per cent at 8.30 am.
Airlines Issue Advisories
Amid adverse weather conditions in Delhi, airlines, including IndiGo and Akasa Air, have warned passengers of possible flight disruptions and urged them to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

Despite the rainfall, Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘moderate’ category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) touching 162 at 3.33 pm, according to the Sameer app.

Meanwhile, the IMD issued a warning of intense rainfall over parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat during the next three hours. Districts likely to be affected include Satara, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Amreli, Rajkot, Junagadh and Gir Somnath.

“Satara, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Amreli, Rajkot, Junagarh and Gir Somnath to experience intense spells of rainfall during next 3 hours,” the IMD tweeted at 2.43 pm.
The weather department also said a depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal near the North Odisha-West Bengal coast continued to move west-northwestwards. It is expected to cross the North Odisha coast near Balasore within the next 12 hours before tracking across North Odisha and North Chhattisgarh over the following 24 hours, raising the likelihood of heavy rainfall over the region.
“The depression over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of North Odisha-West Bengal coasts moved west-northwestwards with a speed of 7 kmph during past 3 hours and lay centred at 1130 hrs IST of today, the 5th July 2026, over the same region near latitude 21.2°N and longitude 87.0°E, about 40 km south of Balasore (Odisha), 50 km north-northeast of Chandbali (Odisha) and 70 km southwest of Digha (West Bengal). It is very likely to move west–northwestwards and cross North Odisha coast between Chandbali and Digha close to Balasore during next 12 hours. It is very likely to continue to move west-northwestwards, across North Odisha and North Chhattisgarh during subsequent 24 hours,” the IMD wrote in a separate post.
