Gujarat Giants defeated UP Warriorz for the second time in WPL 2026 on Thursday (January 22) to rise from 5th to 2nd position in the points table. Sophie Devine’s unbeaten fifty helped the Ahmedabad-based franchise post a fighting total of 153/8 after Meg Lanning invited them to bat first. The target of 154 runs proved too much for the Warriorz, who came into Thursday’s match after securing back-to-back wins over defending champions Mumbai Indians in Navi Mumbai.
They lost wickets at regular intervals and ultimately fell short of the target by 45 runs.
For GG, Renuka Singh Thakur picked up 2 wickets for 20 runs in her quota of four overs, and spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad accounted for the dismissal of three UPW batters.
