Suryapet (Telangana), Aug 29 (PTI) Two people were killed and a police official was injured after two neighbouring families clashed following a dispute over a neem tree in a hamlet in this district on Saturday, police said.
According to police, the two families were in dispute over the past several years over the neem tree which stood on the boundary of their homes in Mellacheruvu mandal.
An argument broke out on Saturday between them after the tree was cut by one of the neighbours and its branches fell in the neighbour’s premises, which further escalated into a clash.
One person was attacked with an axe by the son of the neighbour resulting in his death on the spot. Following this, the latter’s father questioned him over the killing, a police
official said.
“Claiming that his father was supporting the deceased (neighbour), he also attacked him with the axe resulting in his death. One SI who intervened also came under attack and was injured,” the official further said.
Police registered murder cases and took the accused into custody. PTI VVK VVK SA
