An American woman who says she was sexually abused and trafficked by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein told US lawmakers that she attended a dinner at Prince Andrew’s private apartment in Buckingham Palace and was also present at Princess Beatrice’s 18th birthday celebrations at Windsor Castle.
Sarah Kellen made the claims during testimony before the US House Oversight Committee, which is conducting an investigation into Epstein and his network of associates. The disclosure marks the first time an Epstein survivor has publicly spoken about attending events at royal residences while describing her connections to influential figures associated with the late financier.
Prince Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor after being stripped
of his royal titles following controversy over his friendship with Epstein, has consistently denied wrongdoing and has not been accused by Kellen of any misconduct.
During her testimony, Kellen said she accompanied Epstein to royal properties in the United Kingdom, including a dinner at Andrew’s private apartment inside Buckingham Palace.
“We also went to Andrew’s private apartment at Buckingham Palace for dinner. And we were at Princess Beatrice’s party at Windsor Castle,” she told committee members.
However, when asked whether she had witnessed any “inappropriate behaviour” by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Kellen replied that she had not.
Kellen told lawmakers that she worked for Epstein and was “sexually and psychologically abused” by him for more than a decade. She also alleged that she was abused by three of Epstein’s associates, including Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted of sex trafficking.
“I feel like she kind of taught and shaped Jeffrey into who he became,” Kellen said of Maxwell, claiming that Maxwell influenced Epstein’s lifestyle and social circle.
Kellen confirmed that she has received compensation from Epstein’s estate through a victims’ compensation fund established after his death. Survivors seeking compensation were required to provide corroborating evidence of their abuse.
The testimony also shed light on Kellen’s role within Epstein’s organisation. She acknowledged that she had worked as an assistant to Epstein and may have helped organise meetings for various high-profile individuals.
Kellen told lawmakers that she may have arranged meetings for Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York and Prince Andrew’s former wife, at Epstein’s office and residence in Palm Beach, Florida, while Epstein was serving a prison sentence in 2008 and was permitted to leave jail during the day on a work-release programme.
Kellen was previously named by prosecutors as a possible co-conspirator in an earlier investigation into Epstein. During her testimony, however, she said she was never informed of that designation at the time and was never interviewed by law enforcement.
“I was not told this was happening. I was not asked about it. No one from law enforcement ever spoke with me,” she told the committee.
Epstein died in a New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide.
