Star Kolkata Knight Riders wicketkeeper-batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi was on Friday stretchered off with an injury just below his neck while attempting a hard catch at mid-wicket off Tanush Kotian’s bowling, during Mumbai’s match against Uttarakhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Jaipur.
The incident occurred in the 30th over when Saurabh Rawat’s slog-sweep ballooned off a top edge. Stationed near the deep mid-wicket boundary, Angkrish sprinted in and dived for the catch, only to bang his head on the turf and be left in clear discomfort.
Mumbai cricketers and the medical staff rushed to his aid before Angkrish was stretchered off and taken to a nearby hospital for X-rays and further evaluation.
There was a brief delay in bringing the stretcher and
ambulance, during which Angkrish seemed to struggle with moving his neck, according to a report in Sportstar.
Angkrish hasn’t been in great touch, with his last five innings before Friday reading 38, 0, 7, 4 and 38*.
Put in to bat first, Mumbai found themselves at 22/2 in the sixth over, before Musheer Khan and his brother Sarfaraz built a 107-run partnership for the third wicket.
