Captain Kylian Mbappe is on fire for France in FIFA World Cup 2026. The 27-year-old footballer has played all six matches for Les Bleus so far in this year’s tournament and scored eight goals in addition to assisting three goals for Ousmane Dembele.
Mbappe, who is France’s highest goal-scorer in the FIFA World Cup as well as in international football, is the first player to be directly involved in 11 goals in this year’s tournament.

Before Mbappe’s 11 goal involvements in this year’s FIFA World Cup, the last player to get involved in more than 10 goals in a FIFA World Cup edition was legendary West Germany forward Gerd Muller. In the 1970 edition of the FIFA World Cup, Muller scored 10 goals and assisted three goals for his teammates.

Apart from Mbappe, Dembele has scored five goals for France in six matches of FIFA World Cup 2026. The last time two players from the same team scored at least five goals in a single FIFA World Cup edition was in 2002.
In that tournament, Ronaldo scored eight goals for Brazil and Rivaldo scored five times.

In the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while Mbappe has scored braces against Senegal, Iraq and Sweden and one goal each against Paraguay and Morocco, Dembele scored a hat-trick against Norway in the first half and one goal each against Iraq and Morocco.
