Mumbai Indians (MI) spinner Allah Ghazanafar reached a remarkable milestone on Monday evening, facing Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Wankhede. The spinner from Afghanistan dismissed LSG opener Josh Inglis in the third over to provide his team with an early breakthrough in the game. He thus became the spin bowler with the most wickets in Powerplay for the Mumbai Indians in a single season of the tournament.

Ghazanafar, MI’s highest wicket-taker in IPL 2026, completed 6 wickets this season. He, thus, surpassed Harbhajan Singh’s tally of 5 wickets, which he picked in 2011.
Ghazanfar struck with a clever carrom ball as Josh Inglis miscued a pull shot. The Aussie batter tried going straight over
mid-on but got a top edge. Suryakumar Yadav ran back from mid-on and completed a well-judged catch. Inglis fell for 13 off five balls.
The overall record of most powerplay wickets for MI is held by Jasprit Bumrah. Although the ace Indian quick hasn’t been at his fluent best this season, he leads the charts with 40 wickets, followed by Lasith Malinga (37), Trent Boult (31) and Mitchell McClenaghan (31) tied at the third spot.
