Suresh Wadkar Reacts To Rumours He Rejected Madhuri Dixit For Being ‘Too Thin’: 'The Proposal Never...'

Singer Suresh Wadkar has responded to the long-standing rumour that he had once rejected a marriage proposal from Madhuri Dixit because he found her “too thin.” The singer addressed the claim during a recent appearance on The Lallantop and laughed off the speculation while saying that Madhuri remains a dear friend and industry colleague.

Suresh Wadkar Reacts To Madhuri Dixit Marriage Proposal Rumour

Speaking about the rumour, Suresh Wadkar said, “Hey bhagwan, woh Madhuri wali afwah! Madhuri toh mujhe kisi din na… jitne andar natural baal hain woh bhi noch legi. Bahut meri achhi friend hai. Industry ki colleague hai. Mujhe bahut pasand bhi hai woh.”

He jokingly translated the situation into his own exasperation, saying that one day Madhuri might

pull out even the few natural hairs he has left because of this rumour. He added that she is a very good friend and colleague from the film industry, and that he likes her a lot.

The singer then jokingly placed the blame on Archana Puran Singh for spreading the story on television.

He said, “Yeh shaitani Archana Puran Singh ki hai. Woh bhi meri behen hai, bahut pyaar karti hai. Pata nahi kahaan se sun ke unhone TV pe bol diya. Us waqt se mere jitne interviews hote hain, sab mein yeh question poocha jaata hai.”

He added that Archana is like a sister to him and loves him dearly, but he does not know where she heard the story from before mentioning it on TV. Since then, he said, the question has followed him in almost every interview.

Suresh Wadkar Says Proposal Never Reached Him

During the same conversation, Suresh Wadkar was asked if he had ever discussed the rumour with Madhuri. He said it was possible that some inquiry may have happened from her father’s side at the time, but clarified that the proposal never reached him.

He said, “Ho sakta hai us waqt koi aisa kissa hua hoga. Unke father ki taraf se koi inquiry hui hogi. Yeh likh ke aata hai ki Suresh Wadkar ne usko isliye mana kiya kyunki woh bahut patli thi.”

The singer continued, “Patli toh thi woh. Agar Abodh picture aap dekhenge toh usmein aisi patli thi ladki. Aap tak baat pahunchi nahi, main kaise mana karta? Tab tak Padma meri zindagi mein aa chuki thi. Padma meri student rahi hai.”

He said Madhuri was indeed slim at the time, and if one watches her debut film Abodh, one can see that. However, he maintained that since the matter never came to him, there was no question of him rejecting her. He added that by then, Padma had already entered his life. Padma, he shared, had been his student.

Madhuri Dixit is married to Dr Shriram Nene. The couple has two sons, Arin and Ryan.

On the work front, Madhuri was recently seen in Netflix’s dark comedy thriller Maa Behen, co-starring Triptii Dimri, Dharna Durga and Ravi Kishan. Directed by Suresh Triveni, the film released on Netflix on June 4.
