The third and final ODI of the ongoing three-match series between India and England will be played on Sunday, July 19. The result of the match, scheduled to take place at Lord’s in London, will decide the winner of the series. Both teams have managed to win one match each so far, and their players would like to give their all in the series decider on Sunday.
For the final match of the ongoing white-ball tour of England, the Indian team management is all set to make at least two changes to the playing XI.
All-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the third ODI against England at the Home of Cricket due to an injury he suffered while batting in the second ODI on Thursday (July 16). He is all set to be replaced by Kuldeep Yadav in the playing
XI. Kuldeep wasn’t part of the Indian squad for the T20I series and then warmed the bench in the first two ODI matches.
In addition to Kuldeep, KL Rahul is also likely to return to India’s playing XI for the series decider. The right-handed wicketkeeper-batter from Karnataka missed the second ODI due to illness. He was replaced by Ishan Kishan for the match at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, but the left-handed wicketkeeper-batter from Jharkhand could only manage to score one run while batting at No. 4.
There are also question marks over Shivam Dube’s place in the playing XI. The Mumbai-based all-rounder got out for a golden duck in the second ODI while batting at No. 8. He has, however, put up a decent show with the ball in both ODIs played so far. But for the do-or-die match, the Indian team management could consider playing a specialist batter or a bowler in his place.
Fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Prince Yadav are among the bowling options for India, whereas if the think tank decides to strengthen the batting, both Ishan and KL Rahul could feature in the playing XI.
