A video circulating on social media triggered widespread outrage after a Bengaluru traffic policeman was seen physically confronting a motorcyclist during a roadside altercation. The footage, which has
since gone viral, shows a heated argument between the officer and the biker, escalating when the policeman slaps the rider in full public view. The clip sparked sharp criticism on social media as many users accused the officer of misusing his authority and demanding strict action.
One post sharing the video questioned the fairness of the incident, reading, “A traffic policeman manhandles a biker despite having no authority. How fair is it to manhandle citizens and suppress them with power?”

While the exact time and location of the incident remain unverified, the video has prompted calls for the Bengaluru Traffic Police to investigate and take disciplinary action if necessary. Several residents pointed out that while traffic officers can stop, question and fine motorists for violations, they are not empowered to use physical force unless a situation poses an immediate threat.
One user commented, “Despicable behavior, to say the least” while another wrote, “Instead of controlling traffic, why are these people beating up riders?” A third said, “How dare this police guy slap a common man? Please take strictest action on this gunda police. We don’t need such gundas in the department.”
Others expressed disappointment over the damage such incidents cause to public trust, with one user saying, “Giving a bad reputation- that too in broad daylight. Please remember, self-respect is important for everyone.”
The Bengaluru Traffic Police have not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
