The Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has sent a notice to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and his brother, MP DK Suresh, seeking detailed financial information in connection with the ongoing National Herald investigation.
According to officials, both leaders have been asked to either appear before the investigators or submit the required documents by December 19. The notice asks for a clear explanation of the funds involved in the donation under scrutiny.
The EOW has requested Shivakumar to provide details on the “source of funds for the donation given, purpose and if he is aware of the end use of the funds and any other relevant information.” Authorities are examining financial records as part of their wider probe into
the case.
Further action will depend on the responses submitted to the Economic Offences Wing.
This comes nearly a week after the EOW of the Delhi Police filed a fresh FIR against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, along with six others, in connection with the alleged irregular acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd (AJL).
The case centres on claims that the leaders and those connected to them acted together to improperly gain control of the company, which was previously associated with the Congress and owned properties valued at around Rs 2,000 crore.
