If you’re a regular social media scroller, you’re no stranger to weird food combos. Some make you laugh out loud, others make you curious enough to try, and some just leave you wondering, “Why?”
A recent Instagram video showcasing one such quirky creation has caught the attention—a homemade drink combining a popular Indian sweet with coffee.
Though the combination sounds unusual, the video takes viewers through the preparation and tasting. It has now sparked curiosity, amusement and mixed reactions in the comments.
The Idea Behind The Rasgulla Cappuccino
The video opens with a woman reacting to her husband’s creation. As he takes a bite and looks pleased, she says, “I think my husband may be losing his mind, cause he thinks this is amazing.” The man,
clearly enjoying himself, adds, “It is so tasty!”
His reaction clearly shows how much he enjoyed it, proving this wasn’t just a joke experiment but something he genuinely liked.
As the video continues, the woman explains what he has made. She says, “He made a Rasgulla cappuccino, and I need to know, would you ever try it, or have you ever tried this?”
She Then Walks Viewers Through The Process
First, the man picks up one rasgulla from a glass bowl using a fork and places it gently into a coffee cup. The soft dessert sits at the bottom of the cup, ready to be used as the base.
Next, he prepares the coffee. In the clip, he presses ground coffee using a tamper, packing it tightly before brewing. This step is shown clearly as part of making a strong espresso shot. He then pours freshly brewed coffee directly over the rasgulla. The hot coffee slowly soaks into the sweet, changing its texture and colour. The rasgulla begins to absorb the coffee, blending dessert and drink together.
In the next step, steamed milk with a creamy layer on top is poured into the cup. This gives the drink a cappuccino-like finish. The coffee, milk, and rasgulla mix together, creating a thick and rich-looking drink.
Finally, the man tastes it again, clearly pleased with how it turned out. The caption of the video reads, “Would you try a Rasgulla Cappuccino? He’s a coffee enthusiast between us!”
Social Media Viewers React With Mixed Opinions
Shared on January 14, the video has crossed 1.1 million views. Reacting to it, a person wrote, “I heard that my mother used to be so obsessed with rosogolla that she would add it to her tea and eat it. Looks like it’s not a myth…I should try it!”
Another called it, “Indian version of ‘Affogato’.” A comment read, “Yummy idea! I love both Rassogola and Coffee,” while another asked, “Was it dipped in sugar syrup also or just dipped in cappuccino… I wanna definitely try it… Really creative.”
Not everyone agreed. A person said, “I strongly believe that the sanctity of any dessert is best preserved when it gets its due in its purest form. Be it a roshogolla or the ephemeral flavour of coffee which engages multiple senses but lingers only briefly.”
Would you give this unique coffee a try?
