Suniel Shetty’s son, Ahan Shetty, is currently basking in the success of his recently released film ‘Border 2’, starring him, Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Varun Dhawan. The film has been performing well at the box office ever since it hit the theatres on 23rd January. Even as Border 2 continues to win the audience’s hearts, Suniel Shetty has revealed that he hasn’t watched the movie yet. While he did attend the premiere of the war drama last week, he said he would watch the film only when it earns Rs 500 crore globally!
Suniel Shetty On Why He Hasn’t Watched Border 2 Yet
While speaking with Mid-Day, Suniel Shetty said that he has kept a special ‘mannat’ for his son, Ahan Shetty, and will only watch the film once it crosses Rs 500 crore worldwide
collection. “I had said from day one that I will not watch Border 2 until it crosses a worldwide collection of ₹500 crore. I had kept a mannat (prayer) for Ahan. Till now, I haven’t watched a single frame. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not arrogance about the film,” said the veteran actor, who was a part of the 1997 film Border.
He further added that he will watch the film with Ahan, his friends, their family, and will also take Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and others with him. “It will probably be the second time for them, but it will be my first. I don’t know how many times I will watch it after that. I have always been proud of Ahan and his decisions. He strongly believed that Border 2 was the film he wanted to do,” he added.
Meanwhile, Suniel Shetty said that his wife, Mana Shetty, loved their son’s film, Border 2. He also said he is happy that after Dhurandhar, another Hindi movie has worked brilliantly. While Suniel Shetty did attend the screening of Border 2 with his wife Mana, daughter Athiya Shetty, and son-in-law KL Rahul, he explained that he sat for 3.5 hours outside the theatre, meeting people and soaking in all the compliments.
The original Border, directed by JP Dutta, is considered a landmark in Hindi cinema. With powerful performances by Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Tabu, and Rakhee Gulzar, the 1997 war drama became a defining moment for its cast and went on to become a cult classic.
The sequel, Border 2, brings together an impressive cast, including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Sonam Bajwa, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, and Anya Singh. The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series, in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films. Backed by a powerful production team including Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and directed by Anurag Singh.
