The report on the renowned Hungarian-Indian painter Amrita Sher-Gil has been making headlines for quite some time, and now the new update suggests that filmmaker Mira Nair has managed to bring Priyanka Chopra on board for a special cameo.
As per Mid-Day sources,Priyanka Chopra will be seen in a special appearance in Mira Nair’s upcoming biopic drama. While the report suggests that Nair has kept the details under wraps, a source shared, “The film aims to present the painter’s life across Hungary, India, and France. There was a specific part for which Mira had approached Priyanka last year, and she shot for it last week. The actor was in Hyderabad to finish some work on ‘Varanasi’. After that, she flew down to Amritsar and filmed for two days.”
The project has been a passion project for Nair for several years. Initially announced in 2020 following the release of A Suitable Boy, the film will chronicle Amrita Sher-Gil’s journey from 1915 to 1941, spanning India, Hungary, and France. According to Mid-Day, Nair spent four years convincing producers to back the period drama. Casting a respected and versatile actor like Tabu is expected to further elevate the film’s profile and lend credibility to the ensemble.
While the lead role is still unconfirmed, the biopic is reported to feature over 15 actors from the Hindi film industry. Tanya Maniktala has clarified that she has not been cast as the protagonist, keeping the central role a mystery.
