Pakistan have suffered another defeat in the lead-up to their 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup campaign. Facing Scotland in their second and final warm-up fixture before the marquee event starts, Pakistan endured a 41-run defeat (DLS method) in a rain-curtailed match at the County Ground in Derby on Tuesday.
After being put into bat, Scotland made a strong start through opener Darcey Carter, who scored 45 off 36 balls. She and Katherine Fraser (19) added 41 runs for the first wicket in six overs before being separated.
Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce then stole the spotlight with a brilliant 94 off 43 deliveries, powering her team to 191/5 in 20 overs. Bryce struck 11 fours and three sixes during her entertaining innings.
Although Pakistan regularly
picked up wickets, their sloppy fielding allowed Bryce to play freely. She was eventually run out off the final delivery of the innings.
Pakistan struggled in response, losing three wickets inside the first five overs, including Gull Feroza, Saira Jabeen, and Ayesha Zafar. By the ninth over, half the side was back in the pavilion, with Rachel Slater taking two wickets in her two overs.
At 62 for 5 after nine overs, rain interrupted play and the match could not resume. Scotland were then declared winners via the DLS method.
Sri Lanka had earlier defeated Pakistan by nine wickets while chasing down 169 in 18.3 overs.
Pakistan will now look to recover from back-to-back defeats in their warmup fixtures as they prepare for their ICC Women T20 World Cup 2026 opener this Sunday against India at Edgbaston.
Scotland, meanwhile, will face Ireland on 13 June at Old Trafford.
India and Pakistan are placed in Group A alongside Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands.
Hosts England are in Group B with defending champions New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Scotland, and Ireland.
The tournament begins on Friday with England taking on Sri Lanka in Birmingham.
