Star Indian playback singer Palak Muchhal has finally broken the silence after her brother Palash’s wedding with ace Indian batter Smriti Mandhana got deferred due to the latter’s father’s ill health.
The former confirmed that the wedding has indeed been postponed.
Smriti is expectedly attached to her father, who has been a constant source of support in her cricketing journey.
Tuhin Mishra, the manager of Smriti, said that her father suffered a health complication early on Sunday morning. She was supposed to marry Palash in the afternoon.
“Due to Smriti’s father’s health, Smriti and Palash’s wedding has been put on hold. We would request all of you to respect the privacy of the families during this sensitive time,” Palak wrote on her Instagram story.
Considering her father’s health condition, Mishra said that Smriti decided to postpone her wedding till he recovers.
“Smriti’s father, Mr Shrinivas Mandhana, was having breakfast this morning and his health started deteriorating. We waited, thinking he would recover soon, but it did not improve,” Mishra said.
“So we thought not to take any risk and called an ambulance and he has been taken to the hospital. He is under observation,” Mishra added.
Both Smriti’s father, Shriniwas and her fiancé, Palash, were hospitalised, though the latter has since been discharged. The family has stated that her father’s condition is stable and he remains under medical observation.
The wedding was all set for Sunday, November 23, in Sangli, Maharashtra and was planned as a small, intimate ceremony with close family and friends.
Multiple members of the Women’s World Cup-winning Indian team were present during the wedding celebrations before the postponement.
Smriti’s family doctor, Dr Naman Shah, said that a medical team is monitoring the health condition of her father.
A week-long celebration was already going on in Sangli, Smriti’s hometown, in Maharashtra, ahead of the much-anticipated nuptial knot ceremony.
