A video from Gurdwara Sahib Guru Nanak Darbar in Montreal, Canada, has gained widespread attention after a Muslim man recounted his visit to the Sikh place of worship. There, he took part in a langar, a free meal shared with all irrespective of background.
In the video, the man shared that as a Muslim, he was warmly welcomed into the Gurdwara and offered as much food as he wanted. He praised the Sikh community for their generous hospitality and their commitment to religious unity, describing it as “the beauty of Sikhism,” where anyone, regardless of their faith, ethnicity, or age, is welcome to enter and receive a meal.

How Did the Internet React To It?
Although numerous people on social media praised
his act and the message of harmony it conveyed, the video also attracted some backlash. A section of viewers took issue with the fact that he was wearing shorts inside the Gurdwara. They argued that visitors should adhere to appropriate etiquette and attire, including modest, full-length clothing, when entering a place of worship. Many came to his defence as well, emphasising that his intentions were sincere and that the video served to highlight Sikhism’s welcoming and compassionate nature to a broader audience.
One user wrote, “Punjabi ka dil bahut bada hota h.”
Another wrote, “This video shows that brotherhood is a big thing,” in Hindi.
Recently, a widely shared video circulating online highlighted the universal affection for langar. Filmed on a bustling street in the UK, it depicts an ambulance caught in traffic with two service personnel inside. Rather than trying to speed through, the pair appear calm and patient, but the surprising sight of a meal being shared nearby quickly captured the audience’s interest.
Inside The Ambulance
The person filming offers a glimpse inside the ambulance, revealing several plates laden with appetising langar on the dashboard. Meanwhile, the man behind the camera provides a comical commentary in Punjabi, remarking, “It’s not only Punjabis who share langar, even the foreigners are taking plates home!”
This cheerful viral clip serves as a fresh reminder of how the Sikh practice of service overcomes division and unites people from all corners of the world.
