This ward is reserved for Other Backward Class and has a total population of 53204, of which 3445 belong to the Scheduled Castes and 411 belong to the Scheduled Tribes.

The gazette notification for the BMC Ward No. 187 (G/North) was issued on December 15, 2025 (Monday), the last date of scrutiny of nominations was December 31, 2025 (Wednesday) and the last date of withdrawal of nominations was January 2, 2026 (Friday). This ward voted on Thursday, January 15, 2026 and the counting of votes is happening on Friday, January 16, 2026.

The extent of the ward as published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette is as follows: A line starting from the junction of Mutturam Lingam Tewar Marg and Dharavi Main Road at Bharatratna Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk and running westwards along the northside of Dharavi Main Road upto its junction with Sant Kabir Road; thence southwards along the westside of Sant Kabir Road upto its junction with “A” Naala at Matunga Labour Camp; thence southwards along the westside of the said Naala upto its junction with Eastern Compound wall of Shahu Nagar Colony across Maharshi Walmiki Road; thence southwards and the northwards along the said compound wall upto its junction with Footover Bridge leading to Mahim Railway Station; thence westwards along the northside of said Footover Bridge upto its junction with Western Railway lines; thence northwards along the Western Railway Lines upto its junction with Mutturam Lingam Tewar Road (Mahim-Sion Link Road) at Mahim Bridge; thence eastwards along the southside of Mutturam Lingam Tewar Road upto its junction with Dharavi Main Road ..……the starting point. PREVIOUS BMC ELECTION RESULT
The last Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections were held on February 21, 2017, in which Shiv Sena was the single largest party with 84 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party won 82 seats. Indian National Congress secured 31 seats, Nationalist Congress Party won nine, and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena won seven seats. Other parties included Samajwadi Party, which won six seats; the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen won two seats and the Akhil Bhartiya Sena won a single seat. Five Independent candidates also won seats in the election.
