'Football Won': German Legend Toni Kroos Takes Brutal Dig At Argentina After World Cup Final

Former Germany and Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos shared a cryptic post after Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in the final of the FIFA World Cup 2026 at the New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday. The contest was thoroughly dominated by Spain, with Argentina becoming the first team in World Cup final history to not have a shot at goal in 90 minutes.

Spain’s cause was helped by Enzo Fernandez, who was booked late into the contest for a challenge on defender Pau Cubarsi in the 93rd minute. It was Fernandez’s second yellow card and his ejection resulted in Argentina being reduced to 10 men.

Spain then scored through Ferran Torres in the 106th minute as the contest went into extra time to take a 1-0 lead, which they held on despite Argentina threatening

to equalise.

After the final whistle, Argentina’s Leandro Paredes was involved in an ugly altercation with Spain’s Eric Garcia and Gavi, forcing coach Lionel Scaloni to intervene as he prevented it from turning into a full-blown brawl.

Kroos, who was part of the German team that defeated Argentina 1-0 in the 2014 World Cup final, reacted to the result with a two-word post on X.

Spain left-back Marc Cucurella hailed his team’s defence as they conceded just once throughout their campaign, with Belgium being the only opponent to score against them in the tournament.

“When you don’t concede, I think it’s much easier to win,” said Cucurella. “We’ve done an incredible job in that regard all tournament, and not just the defenders and the goalkeeper, because I think it’s a team effort.

“Ultimately it’s about everyone making sacrifices. We attack together and defend together. That’s one of the keys to this team,” he added.

This is the second time that Spain have won the World Cup, having earlier beaten the Netherlands in the 2010 World Cup final.

“Now it’s time to celebrate,” Cucurella, who recently joined Real Madrid from Chelsea, said. “We came here with a goal, spent 50 days, or nearly 50, in camp, and now it’s time to be together, enjoy every moment, reminisce, and above all, switch off.”
