Indian cooking produces a lot of smoke and oil. Tadkas, deep frying and roasting all release fumes that settle on walls and cabinets, which is why a kitchen chimney is now a standard purchase for most new homes.
Most buyers start with one number: suction power, listed in cubic metres per hour. It is natural to assume that 1,600 beats 1,500, but how well a chimney clears your kitchen depends on much more than that figure. Here is what actually matters, along with four well rated chimneys on Amazon, with prices as listed at the time of writing.
1. Faber Hood Trendy 60cm BLDC Autoclean Chimney
The Faber Hood Trendy 60cm is the pick for smaller kitchens with a 2 or 3 burner stove. It has a slant design, which leaves more headroom while cooking, and a suction rating of 1,500 cubic metres per hour.
Its BLDC motor is typically quieter and more energy efficient than a regular motor. Autoclean and a built-in oil collector cut down on maintenance, and you can use touch or gesture controls with oily hands. Faber offers 12 years of warranty on the motor and 2 years comprehensive. It costs Rs. 14,990 and is rated 4.5 stars. Check the Faber Hood Trendy 60cm deal on Amazon.
2. Faber 75cm Autoclean Curved Chimney
The Faber 75cm curved chimney is the most affordable option on this list at Rs. 14,890, and it suits 3 to 5 burner stoves. It uses a baffle filter, which handles the heavy oil of Indian cooking well and can be washed. Faber rates the noise at 58dB, and lists the suction at 1,500 cubic metres per hour. It works with ducted or ductless installation, which is useful if your kitchen doesn’t have an outlet for a pipe. You get touch, gesture and motion sensing controls, an autoclean alarm and an oil collector. It is rated 4.4 stars. See the Faber 75cm curved chimney offer on Amazon.
3. Glen 75cm BLDC Slant Chimney
The Glen 75cm slant chimney has the highest suction rating on this list at 1,600 cubic metres per hour, and Glen says it has a wider suction area to cover more of the stove. It is filterless, so there are no filters to remove and wash, and intelligent auto clean handles the oil buildup. A BLDC motor, motion sensing controls and a rated noise level of 58dB round it off. Glen recommends it for 3 to 4 burner stoves. It costs Rs. 16,999, 54% off its MRP. It is rated 4.2 stars, though by fewer buyers than the others. Grab the Glen 75cm chimney deal here.
4. Faber Agile 90cm BLDC Autoclean Chimney
The Faber Agile 90cm is the pick for large kitchens and wide 4 or 5 burner stoves, where a bigger hood makes the most difference. It has a curved design, a BLDC motor and a suction rating of 1,500 cubic metres per hour. It is filterless with autoclean and a built-in oil collector, so day to day cleaning is minimal. Touch and gesture controls make it easy to use mid cooking. Faber offers 8 years of warranty on the motor and 2 years comprehensive. It is the highest rated chimney here at 4.7 stars, and costs Rs. 16,990. View the Faber Agile 90cm price on Amazon.

Why the suction number doesn’t tell the full story
The suction figure on a listing is usually measured in ideal conditions, with no duct attached. In a real kitchen, every metre of pipe and every bend adds resistance, so the actual airflow is lower. A 1,500 rated chimney with a short, straight duct can clear smoke better than a 1,600 rated one fitted with a long pipe and two sharp bends.
Hood size matters too. The chimney should be at least as wide as your stove, so the smoke rises into it instead of escaping around the sides. Mounting height also plays a part, as a hood fitted too high above the stove catches less smoke.
For most Indian kitchens, a suction rating of 1,200 to 1,500 cubic metres per hour is plenty. Spend on the right size, a good installation and an easy cleaning system instead of chasing the biggest number.
Tips before you buy
Match the stove size. Pick a 60cm hood for 2 to 3 burners and 75cm or 90cm for larger stoves.
Keep the duct short. Ask the installer for the shortest route with the fewest bends.
Mind the height. Follow the brand’s recommended gap between the stove and the hood.
Choose your filter type. Filterless models need less cleaning, while baffle filters are easy to wash.
