Suga Says BTS Will Make Music Into Their 60s: ‘It’ll Be Little Hard On Our Knees’

As BTS prepares to make their much-awaited return to the music scene after nearly four years, a time period that felt like an eternity for their fans, the group is already looking far beyond. They have just reassured ARMYs that with their love and support, the group might continue making music and performing well into their 50s, and maybe even their 60s.

RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook recently spoke with GQ about their return to group activities after years of solo projects and the completion of their mandatory military service. In the interview, Suga was reminded of a 2013 clip, in which BTS was seen celebrating their 100-day milestone after debuting in June that year. They had marked the special occasion with a radio show, where

they were seen cutting a cake and even singing “congratulations” to one another.

When Suga Wanted BTS To “Stay Together” Always

In the clip, Suga, looking at his six other bandmates, said, “Whether it’s a hundred, a thousand, or ten thousand days, let’s stay together.” The rest echoed the same feelings, saying, “Let’s stay together!” Now, when asked if he felt the same about the band and wanted them to stay together for the next hundred, a thousand or ten thousand days, his answer was positive.

Suga Says BTS Might Perform Into Their 50s And 60s

“We’re still very good friends. The fans still love us—they want us, they support us,” he said, adding, “If we can keep this going, then maybe we can be dancing in our 60s…. As long as we’re willing—I think maybe into our 50s, into our 60s—we can always be together as a band.”

While Suga wants the band to be together till they hit their 60s, there is just one problem: their knees. Adding humour to the moment, Suga pointed out, “Maybe it’ll be a little bit hard on our knees. But I think we can do that.”

What’s Next In Schedule For BTS?

BTS is all set to return to the spotlight with the release of their new album, Arirang, their first since 2022’s Proof. It is scheduled to drop on March 20 and will be followed by a massive world tour beginning in April with shows in Goyang, South Korea.

The tour is scheduled to run through March 2027, with multiple stops planned across the United States, Europe, Australia and multiple regions of Asia. Fans will also get the chance to watch select performances in theatres, with one live screening of their special concert in Korea to air on Netflix. A documentary, scheduled for release on March 27, titled BTS: THE RETURN, will chronicle the band’s return and the making of their new album.
