Music composer Amaal Mallik has opened up about Arijit Singh’s return to playback singing with a song from Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming film Awarapan 2. He revealed that the singer agreed to record the track last week after connecting with the melody. Amaal clarified that the song was not part of any old agreement or a previously recorded commitment. He said the composition was shared with Arijit a few months ago, and the singer gave his final approval only recently. For the unversed, Arijit announced his retirement from playback singing on January 27, which is why his return to playback singing with the sing ‘Yeh Awarapan’ has left fans pleasantly surprised!

Taking to social media, Amaal wrote that Arijit’s decision was driven primarily by his love

and respect for their bond as artists and friends. He added that the singer’s admiration for the film’s producers and lead actor also played a role in the decision.

“One last time I’m stating this, This song is not some old agreement or something that was already sung and he came to redo it. This melody was sent a few months back and he has literally agreed only and last week to sing it,” wrote Amaal.

He further added, “It’s mainly his love for me as an artist & friend, then comes his respect for the producers and the actor of the film. If the melody doesn’t touch his heart he will not take up the song…. Thats the truth and the only truth. Now wait for the magic to unfold.”

‘Doesn’t Get Bigger Than This’, Says Amaal

In another tweet, Amaal wrote, “Only a pure melody could get the beast out of his den. A vocal performance to watch out for…. #ArijitSingh gives his heart and soul yet again for the title song of #Awarapan2. It doesn’t get bigger than this.”

The statement comes months after Arijit Singh had announced that he would step away from playback singing, leading fans to believe that his Bollywood singing assignments would become limited. However, the singer had clarified that his decision was not about leaving music altogether but about exploring other aspects of his musical journey.

Vishesh Films and Arijit Singh have collaborated on several projects over the years, including Phir Mohabbat in Murder 2, Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2, Muskurane from CityLights, the Khamoshiyan title track, the Hamari Adhuri Kahani title track, and Pal from Jalebi.
