New Delhi, Jun 19 (PTI) The Delhi Police has facilitated the restoration of Rs 3.59 lakh to victims of online fraud through the ‘Money Restoration Module’, a victim-centric mechanism developed by the I4C, an officer said on Friday.
The initiative enabled the return of Rs 3.59 lakh to victims in 34 cyber fraud cases after the completion of verification and documentation procedures, he said.
According to police, 70 Money Restoration Module (MRM) requests were received from Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) for processing. Of these, documents in 34 cases were successfully obtained, verified and uploaded on the MRM portal, leading to the restoration of the blocked funds to the affected complainants.
The MRM, developed by I4C, facilitates
the restoration of lien amounts of up to Rs 50,000 to victims whose money has been secured through banking interventions following cyber fraud complaints.
Police said victims are contacted after requests are received from I4C and are informed about the restoration process.
“Complainants are required to visit the police station in person with supporting documents, including a copy of their PAN card and an indemnity bond executed on stamp paper, for verification and processing,” the police officer said.
Police said the restoration process could not be completed in 22 cases as complainants did not visit the police station despite repeated calls and reminders. The remaining cases are under process.
To ensure speedy disposal of requests, a dedicated staff member has been assigned exclusively for MRM-related work, including contacting complainants, facilitating documentation, monitoring progress and uploading documents on the portal.
“The initiative reflects the commitment of law enforcement agencies towards victim assistance and timely redressal of cyber crime complaints,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range) Madhur Verma said. PTI BM PRK
