Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer, who is unbeaten in the ongoing season of the IPL 2026, named Royal Challengers Bengaluru superstar and Indian teammate Virat Kohli as the greatest T20 batter of all-time.
Kohli, who has over an astounding 9700 runs in IPL and T20Is, completed his legacy by winning the money-rich T20 franchise league last year with RCB after an 17-year wait.
“With the consistency and the amount of cricket he has played throughout, I’d say Virat Kohli,” Shreyas said.
Kohli has also been in good form as the veteran batter top the orange cap rankings for the highest run getter this season.
RCB’s poster-boy started the campaign out with an unbeaten 69 run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad, before notching up 28 runs vs Chennai Super
Kings in his second outing as the holders went on to win both games. Kohli managed to post 32 runs against Rajasthan Royals in his side’s losing effort, but took his side back to winnings ways with a 50-run knock against Delhi Capitals, and followed it up with a match-winning 49 vs Lucknow Super Giants.
PBKS outplayed Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday to climb to the top of the table as they posted a 7-wicket victory thanks to half-centuries from Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas.
Captain Shreyas Iyer then took charge of the chase alongside Prabhsimran, with the pair stitching together a 139-run partnership, during which both reached their fifties.
Shreyas was removed by Shardul Thakur after scoring 66, while Prabhsimran stayed unbeaten on 80. to take the side past the finish line with 21 deliveries to spare.
Shreyas was also active on the field, pulling off a stunning bit of effort in the deep to get rod of opposition number Hardik Pandya to derail the MI innings.
